Update on Import Tariffs – What You Need to Know (CSMS #65573545)

Update on Import Tariffs – What You Need to Know (CSMS #65573545)

The U.S. government has issued a new order on July 7, 2025, that extends a temporary suspension of country-specific reciprocal tariff rates for most countries (except for China, including Hong Kong and Macau) until August 1, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.

What this means:

  • If you’re importing goods from most countries (not including China, Hong Kong, or Macau), the country-specific reciprocal tariff rates stay paused.
  • These goods will continue to be charged an extra 10% duty under the U.S. tariff code 9903.01.25, until August 1, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.
  • For products from China, Hong Kong, and Macau, the special rates are also still suspended, but until August 12, 2025.
  • These products will also continue to be charged the 10% extra duty, unless they qualify for certain exceptions listed in other tariff codes.
