Dear clients and partners,
Two quick, time-sensitive notes for U.S. importers:
1) CBP electronic refunds (ACH) – recommended by Feb 6
There is ongoing legal attention around IEEPA tariffs. If IEEPA tariffs are ultimately ruled illegal and refunds are issued, importers should be set up to receive electronic refunds via ACH in the ACE Portal to help avoid delays.
Why this matters: If your ACH information isn’t on file and verified in ACE, refunds (if issued) may default to slower, manual processing, potentially causing avoidable delays for your finance team. Getting enrolled now is a low-effort preparedness step.
Recommended steps to complete by Feb 6:
- Confirm you have access to the ACE Portal (Importer/Trade Account Owner).
- Add/verify ACH bank information for electronic refunds.
- Confirm the right internal users/permissions are in place (trade/compliance + AP/finance) so the setup is owned and maintained.
2) New potential 25% tariff exposure tied to Iran trade partners (developing)
Per recent reporting, the U.S. announced a 25% tariff impacting countries “doing business with Iran,” effective immediately. Details on scope and implementation are still developing, but this could create sudden cost and compliance impacts depending on your sourcing and routing.
What we recommend right now:
- Share your countries of origin + key suppliers for any at-risk lanes so we can review exposure.
- Flag any time-sensitive POs so we can evaluate options (routing, timing, mode).
- Ensure your team is aligned on documentation and duty-impact review (compliance + purchasing + finance).
If you have any questions or concerns about how these tariff changes may affect you, please reach out to one of Air Tiger’s offices.
